Over 43,000 people in the Peterborough area depend on United Way each year

The United Way is a community based, not-for-profit umbrella organization that distributes donations to 32 Member Agencies in the City and County of Peterborough.  Your donation will be used to provide essential and effective services such as: helping people in need with credit counselling, putting food on their table, dealing with unemployment and an assortment of other challenges.  Through your generosity, we can make a positive difference in the lives of those who need it and help build a stronger Peterborough community.

  • In 2010 the United Way of Peterborough & District raised $2,450,000 for the community ($68,500.00 from Trent!)
  • United Way funds 32 member agencies and over 150 vitally important programs within Peterborough County and City, touching approximately 1 in 3 people in our community
  • Each year a panel of trained volunteers visits the agencies funded by United Way to review their operational and financial efficiencies and effectiveness
  • United Way has one of the lowest costs of fundraising of any not-for-profit organization
