Bursary Overview:

2012 Graduate Student SPRING/SUMMER Bursary Application

(for use in the 2012GS term, due June 15, 2012)

The bursary program for graduate students at Trent University is administered by the School of Graduate Studies. Bursaries are meant to supplement, not replace, provincial government aid programs and a student’s own resources. To comply with this definition and respond to student concerns, effective September 1, 2008 all domestic graduate students will be required to first apply to OSAP, or the student aid program of another province, before applying for a Trent University bursary.

Students are required to submit a completed application to the Graduate Studies office by the advertised deadline. The application must include to be deemed complete:
1. Application form
2. A budget that outlines student expenses and resources. Expenses should reflect direct educational costs only. Resources include, but are not limited to, money received from government student aid programs, parents, scholarships, awards, supervisory support and employment earnings. * if you have a half or full GTA must be clearly stated.
3. A brief outline of research.
4. A personal statement regarding your current financial circumstance
5. Receipts of any additional expenses that you have indicated in your personal letter
6. Proof of debt load if claiming high debt load.

Who can help me find more scholarship information?

A good start to discover scholarship information includes review of other University websites, Student Awards and Scholarships Canada.

Research all the available awards you qualify for, read over and carefully fill out the applications, gather your additional documentation and get them out early.

Also: look for Information Session notices around campus, visit the School of Graduate Studies, attend Graduate Studies Expos & Fairs, talk to Faculty, discuss your interests with your Supervisors and investigate the services available through your home department and at the Trent University Career Centre. The Career Centre offers a wide range of services for students including:
