Community Leaders Awards
Trent University’s Community Leaders Awards Program recognizes and celebrates outstanding members of the community who have made significant contributions toward the betterment of the Greater Peterborough Region. These awards are unique by honouring individuals who have made a world of difference through both their field of expertise and through community involvement.
Inside Trent
Inside Trent is a community outreach program designed to engage members of the local and regional communities in the life of Trent University. Launched in Peterborough in 2007 as a community outreach event, the event brings Trent’s experts to the community to facilitate a sharing of knowledge on topical subjects. The event is held on an annual basis in various communities.

Throughout the year, a number of key lectures and events are held, including:
David Morrison Lecture in International Development
Brings globally distinguished scholars who are renowned for the impact that their intellectual and applied work has had on international development studies to Trent University
Margaret Laurence Lecture
The annual lecture honours Trent's fourth chancellor, and acknowledges her contributions to literature, feminism, ecology, and the peace movement.
Tapscott-Lopes Business & Society Lecture
Brings prominent speakers to the Trent University community to address issues of values and ethics as they pertain to business and society
Jack Matthews Fellow
Created in 2008, the Jack Matthews Fellowship honours the founding leadership contributions of the late Mr. Jack Matthews to Trent University, Lakefield College School, and The Canadian Canoe Museum.
The Stairs Lecture in Chemistry
The Stairs Lecture in Chemistry, the first endowed lecture series in Chemistry at Trent University, was created by Trent Professor Emeritus Dr. Robert Stairs and his wife, Sibyl.
The lecture series enables Trent to invite a distinguished scientist to speak on his or her research and to showcase the field of Chemistry.
