Welcome
to Biology
Biology is the science of life. At Trent, our faculty in the Department
of Biology study life from its most elementary building blocks
(molecules and cells) to its largest expressions (populations,
communities, and global ecosystems). The 21st century has been called
“the Age of Biology”. In research and teaching, we tackle some of the
most important issues of our times – such as the spread of infectious
diseases, conservation of genetic diversity, impact of environmental
stress, and the loss of species.
Our students interact with their professors in labs, lectures, seminars,
and the field. We involve our undergraduates in exciting, high-quality
research programs, and we offer hands-on internships in Conservation
Biology and Health Sciences. Our campus is situated in the midst of the
Trent Nature Areas, a large and diverse ecological laboratory.
