Get Involved with your Alumni Association and Trent:
Although they have left Trent, the alumni continue to play an important role in the life of the university. They volunteer their time to provide career insights for students and assist in student recruitment. Alumni are ambassadors of Trent, representing the university world wide. Trent's alumni reach out to assist present students in their education through student financial assistance in the form of awards, bursaries and fund raising. Whether its volunteering time on convocation day or sitting on a committee, Trent University relies on the expertise and generosity of its alumni. The spirit of Trent continues to live on well after graduation day. Contact the Alumni Office if you wish to volunteer.
Advising Students on Potential Careers
Trent's Alumni are in a wide range of fields and professions. They are thus well placed to offer advice to current and graduating students on potential career paths. Any alumn would be welcome to advise students - just contact the Office of Alumni Affairs.
Helping Recruit New Students
In cooperation with the University's High School Liaison Office, Alumni have become key players in the student/parent information and orientation sessions. By talking about their experiences at Trent, Alumni become a personal link between the University and new or prospective students.
Government Relations
Through advocacy groups, special lobby appeals, letter-writing, and general contact with elected officials, Alumni play a very important role as a liaison between the University and governments.
Representing the University
Alumni represent the University at special functions at other universities in Canada, including convocations and the installation of presidents and chancellors.
Ambassadors for Trent
Alumni, simply by speaking well of the University, become ambassadors for Trent. Word-of-mouth endorsements are appreciated, since they enhance the reputation and visibility of the University.
Information and Orientation Sessions for New Students
Trent University Alumni have become increasingly active in assisting the University's High School Liaison Office. Alumni participate in information sessions which are held in the late summer for students (and their parents) who are coming to Trent. These August orientation sessions are organized by the Chapters, and serve as "question and answer" sessions for our newest Trent students, just prior to beginning their Trent career.
Student Financial Assistance
Through their donations, Alumni play a considerable role in financially assisting students. Assistance includes bursaries, scholarships, prizes and emergency loans. The Alumni Annual Fund is also a major employer of Trent students.
Convocation Day and Intro-Week Hospitality
Alumni volunteers help make Convocation and Intro-week a success. If you are interested in helping out contact us at the Alumni Office.
